Kosmic Technology
Solutions, a division of the Kosmic Group of Companies, this week
announces the availability of the Databeacon Smart Client 1.1 family
of reporting and data analysis products to the Indian market at
separate launch events in Chennai and Mumbai. The announcement seals
Kosmic's partnership with Canada's Databeacon Inc. as a Databeacon
Certified International Distributor. Databeacon is purpose-built and
priced for mid-market companies or departments of larger
organizations typical of India that are seeking low cost of
ownership, easy integration with existing I.T. infrastructure, fast
deployment, and 100% adoption of self-serve explorable reports for
better decisions.
"We've never seen a new partner as
aggressive and market-ready as Kosmic Technology Group," says Hans
Galldin, Databeacon's President and CEO. "Nor have we seen an I.T.
landscape as dynamic as India's is right now. This all signals a
great partnership with Kosmic."
Leveraging Microsoft's .NET
Framework, Databeacon Smart Client Professional and Smart Client
Standard offer multiple report viewers to ensure 100% adoption of
self-serve explorable reports, unparalleled support for Windows
desktop tools, and no-touch deployment. Databeacon's Smart Client
family of products adds to its existing Open Client family of
products and extends the company's expertise to the rapidly growing
opportunity for no-touch deployment software in the mid-market
enterprise. All Databeacon software supports multiple server
platforms and data sources.
According to analyst group AMI
Partners, there are approximately 46,000 Indian mid-market companies
with between 100 and 999 employees. Between them, these companies
spent $2.91 billion on I.T. in 2004. "Mid-market enterprises want
fast, effective, affordable ways to serve the needs of Web-based
users," said K.Muthiah, Director, Finance and Marketing, Kosmic
Group. "Databeacon's no-touch smart client deployment of explorable
reports is a great example of the kind of innovative products Kosmic
Technology Solutions is introducing to deliver more value to Indian
customers."
"We're most excited by Databeacon's report
viewer, called Databeacon Player," says Muthiah. "Leveraging
Microsoft .NET, Databeacon Player offers an analytical reporting
interface in the style of a multimedia player that millions of both
business and casual analytical report users are instantly familiar
with. It's a breakthrough in giving absolutely anyone the ability to
get insight out of their data."
In a recent study entitled,
Profiling the Analytic End User for Business Intelligence, Forrester
Research states that the vast majority (86 percent) of analytic end
users are consumers of information, rather than producers of
analysis. According to Keith Gile, Senior Analyst at Forrester, the
key to a successful implementation is targeting the solution to the
appropriate end user constituency. "Like it or not, many business
and casual users will be forced to produce their own reports. As
this occurs, the lines blur between business users and casual users,
encouraging departments to select the tools best suited to address
the immediate needs of the producers within those departments," says
Gile.
Databeacon Smart Client Professional and Smart Client
Standard 1.1 use Databeacon's Client OLAP Reporting Environment
(CORE) to combine the best of rich client and thin client systems.
Combined with the .NET Framework, Databeacon's CORE technology
vastly improves Web-based reporting and analysis experiences, while
eliminating server loads and providing automatic end-user software
upgrades.
The Databeacon Smart Client 1.1 product family
extends its Latin-1 (ISO8859-1) language localization support to CJK
(Chinese-Japanese-Korean) support, allowing Asian language users to
apply advanced analytical capabilities to local language data.
Databeacon Smart Client Standard -- Databeacon Smart Client
Standard 1.1 offers "instant-on" deployment of reporting and data
analysis from a Microsoft or Linux Web server to any PC with the
.NET framework installed. Also included are three viewers designed
to ensure 100% adoption: Databeacon Web Reporter for casual use
information consumers, Databeacon Player for more frequent data
explorers, and Databeacon Insight for power analysts and report
designers.
Databeacon Smart Client Professional --
Databeacon Smart Client Professional 1.1 includes all the features
of Databeacon Smart Client Standard along with an Application
Program Interface (API) that provides a scripting language for
creating custom data profiles. It also enables custom portal
development and tight integration with existing system interfaces.

estratégicos, a menor precio», explica Didier Guyomarc'h, director
general de Informatica.
