Databeacon Inc., a developer of Web reporting and data analysis software, announced that the recently released Databeacon Collaboration Edition will now support the Linux operating system. The new release gives Linux-based organizations the ability to easily publish and disseminate interactive Web reports and data analysis via intranets, extranets or the public Internet.

Interest and demand for Linux is increasing within the enterprise as more and more organizations adopt the operating system for its perceived superiority in reliability and security, as well as lower IT costs. In fact, according to Forrester Research, 17 percent of large North American companies are using Linux1. However, in order for it to become a more widely used commercial operating system, more enterprise software applications are needed. By offering support for Linux, Databeacon is helping validate the Linux market by providing its Web reporting and data analysis software for that platform.

Databeacon Collaboration Edition offers anyone with a browser and an Internet connection the ability to view, create and collaborate on Web reports without the need to install software or take training. Simply sending an email from the Databeacon Insight viewer to people of your choice activates a self- defined workgroup. Email recipients click on an "Analyze Report" link and can continue to interactively analyze and visualize Web reporting data within their own Databeacon Insight viewer which is loaded automatically in their browser. They are then able to add their own Web reports to share within the workgroup as needed.

Now, with Databeacon Collaboration Edition, Linux-based enterprises can allow analysts to collaborate on data-driven conclusions with clients, managers can deliver the results of data explorations to executives, and civil servants are able to share insights with stakeholder groups. As well, Databeacon's unlimited user/per processor server licensing model allows customers to cost- effectively publish interactive Web reports for analysis by hundreds or thousands of users from a single Web server. Databeacon also offers entry-level pricing for small to midsize businesses with limited numbers of users, or hosted services to organizations that simply want their data published to the Internet in a no-fuss manner for a modest setup fee and monthly charges.
