Databeacon releases reporting, analysis tool for Linux

Databeacon Inc, a developer of Web reporting and data analysis software, announced the release of Databeacon Collaboration Edition that supports Linux. Enterprises using Linux can use the software to publish and distribute Web reports and analysis via the Internet, intranets and extranets. Enterprises can use Databeacon's Web-based tool to create, view and collaborate Web reports without installing software. Linux-based enterprises can allow analysts to collaborate on data-driven conclusions with clients, managers can deliver the results of data explorations to executives, and civil servants are able to share insights with stakeholder groups. Pricing for Databeacon Collaboration starts at $5,000 for a 5-user license. Databeacon's more common unlimited user/Web server pricing starts at $25,000 per processor for Databeacon Collaboration Edition, and $10,000 per processor for Databeacon PageEnhancer API.

VeriSign migrating from Unix to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Red Hat announced that VeriSign Inc., a network infrastructure services provider, has selected Red Hat Enterprise Linux as its platform for more than 200 servers in its business units. Verisign naming and directory services units have already begun migrating from Unix to Red Hat Linux and the overall company migration will continue during the next 18 months. VeriSign maintains a database of more than 27 million Web addresses and responds to more than nine billion DNS requests a day. VeriSign also hosts the most utilized Internet's domain name server, the A Root server that answers requests for .com and .net domains.

Orion platform supports Red Hat, SuSE

Vision Solutions announced the release of Orion, its multiplatform managed availability software. Orion supports data replication through server and application failover for Red Hat Linux and SuSE Linux, in addition to the IBM iSeries and Windows. Orion also supports databases from Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, DB2/400 and UDB.

BMC deployment tool best in show at LinuxWorld

BMC Software, Inc.'s Deployment Manager for Linux won the Best of Show award at LinuxWorld last month. DML simplifies remote deployment and management of dissimilar Linux systems from one location. Administrators will be able to install, upgrade and maintain Linux applications on zSeries and Intel. Others nominated were Computer Associates Unicenter ServicePlus Service Desk; Oracle Corp. - Oracle Collaboration Suite on Linux; Sun Microsystems, Inc. - StarOffice 7; and SuSE Inc. - SuSE Linux Openexchange Server.
